ARTISTS

In recent years I have been creating sculpture and public art, this emerged from my Abstract painting and drawing experiences: making a sculpture for the 2012 London Olympics and recently a piece for 2019 about the silence of the oppressed and illumination of the mind. My painting continues with pieces from my residency at C.P. and with a recent show that looks back to small paintings from the 1995-2000 with the theme now topical:

Here is one pic from my show at Stratford Art House, the painting ' A Light Shower Over The City' painted at my studio space in Birmingham, the light gives a double meaning that keeps the painting unframed by any exact meaning.

'The Motional Figure' is perhaps my most public art piece, the clients were delighted with it, very encouraging to support the making of the piece that I did with a friend and with some fabrication engineers. The sense of the piece changes with every mood and colour of the sky. To carry all of the making stages from the initial small pencil drawing to the models, then the fabrication drawings and metal cutting drawings is a real test of character at every stage pitfalls that could easily cause trouble so planning ahead and making sure at every stage what will work is important. Then cutting, fitting and welding, and finishing, all exact and precise choices must lead to the sense found in the first inspiration at the very least, but goes far beyond ..
